The Zanussi company was established by Antonio Zanussi in Pordenone, Italy in 1916. It was initially an individual workshop, but soon transformed into a major industrial company with a wide range of domestic appliances. In 1950, it was one of the most renowned producers in Italy. The company continued to grow in the 1960s through the purchase of the Becchi, Castor, Zoppas and Triplex brands, and also with the establishment of a design and research center. In 1984, the brand was sold to Electrolux.
